Barnsley Citizen's Advice Bureau say increasing number of people turning to pay day loans
Barnsley Citizen's Advice Bureau are worried that an increasing number of people are turning to pay day loans to help with their financial problems.
People in financial difficulty have been advised to consider other easier and less-costly ways to maximise their income.
The recent research shows that over a quarter of those who took out a pay day loan didn't look into any other financial solution first.
Pat Heath, Chief Executive of Barnsley Citizen's Advice Bureau says:
"Taking out a payday loan can be the start of a slippery slope. One thing leads to another because once you've taken out a payday loan you have to re-pay it and if you struggle to pay it back then you take out another. Someone recently came to the Bureau with seventeen pay day loans totalling eight thousand pounds".
