Barnsley Hospital working to support parents who have lost their babies

Nationally NHS trusts are being urged to do more to provide support to bereaved parents but Barnsley Hospital are highlighting what they do.

It comes as figures suggest there are on average 15 stillbirths or neonatal deaths every day in the UK.

More than 60 charities say not enough help is available and want a trial scheme extended across the country.

Here in Barnsley efforts are being made to offer help to mums and dads who've lost a baby.

The hospital are backing a national week of awareness, highlighting the support they offer.

Lisa Rich is a bereavement midwife in the borough, she says it's important to provide the best care at the worst time.

They will also be holding a remembrance service on Sunday and taking part in a national event next Monday.
